About

In brief

A shopper taps Buy. In that one second, a factory's output, a warehouse, a marketplace, a payment network and a courier each make a decision on the brand's behalf. When those decisions agree, nobody notices. When they don't, the brand pays in cancelled orders, refunds and lost trust. I have spent eleven years making them agree.

Today I lead product and growth at a Reliance-backed enterprise commerce platform. My remit runs the full length of commerce, from manufacturing and procurement to the customer's door: ERP, product information, order, warehouse and transport management, marketplaces and seller platforms, storefronts and mobile apps, point of sale, endless aisle and AR try-on, B2B commerce, loyalty and analytics. Beneath all of it sits the money, and I know banking, payments, settlement and credit management end to end.

I set strategy with the CXO team and lead enterprise pre-sales and revenue architecture across seven markets. I also lead a large organisation, directly and through the leaders who report to me, spanning the teams that design, build, sell and deliver the platform. I give every team one outcome it owns, a leader with the authority to reach it, and a standard of evidence that holds whether or not I am in the room. I do not measure leadership by how many people I lead. I measure it by how well they decide when I am not there.

More than 1,000 brands, retailers, marketplaces, logistics companies and distribution partners sit behind that work, across India, the Middle East, South East Asia, Hong Kong, South Africa, the United Kingdom and the United States.

I am also a programmer. Across my career I have designed and delivered more than 20 products end to end, leading the engineers who built them with me. In the last few years I have changed how I build. My most recent products I wrote myself with AI agents beside me, at the speed people call vibe coding and with the rigour it usually lacks. I know AI inside out, from how models reason and fail to how agents, retrieval, tools and evaluation fit together in production. The agents research, draft, code and test. I own the question, the check and the decision.

The products I have built and led have grown from a blank page to annual revenues that range from millions of dollars to, at the top, more than half a billion. I write about what I learn as editor of The Rigorous Builder. The standard has never changed: read the raw evidence before you approve the summary, and make every decision behind that one second agree.

The mandate: make an entire commerce suite, from manufacturing to the customer's door, work as one platform, lead the organisation that builds it, and win the enterprise deals that prove it.

    • Set direction across the full suite: ERP and procurement, product information, order, warehouse and transport management, marketplace management and seller platforms, storefronts and Android and iOS apps, point of sale and endless aisle, AR try-on, B2B commerce, loyalty and analytics.
    • Decide what each product builds, what they share and what they stop, so the suite behaves as one system for the customer.
    • Shape strategy and priorities with the CXO team, then carry each decision through engineering, design, business, marketing, finance and legal.

    • Own enterprise pre-sales and revenue architecture across seven markets. I run discovery myself, design the solution, build the business case and present it to the buyer's leadership.
    • Lead enterprise engagements with brands and retailers such as Lulu Hypermarket in the GCC, and JD Williams and Park Cameras in the United Kingdom.
    • Take critical escalations personally, and close them with a fix to the product as well as to the account.
    • Build working prototypes and internal tools with AI agents, so the distance between a customer problem and a working answer stays short.
    • Named Fighter of the Year 2024 for carrying difficult programmes through under pressure.
  2. Lead Product Manager

    Oct 2023 to May 2025 / 1 yr 8 mos

The question: how do you give very different B2B businesses one platform without flattening what makes each of them work?

    • Platformised B2B commerce for one of India's largest retail groups across cash-and-carry wholesale, consumer brands distribution and fashion B2B, spanning Metro Cash & Carry, JioMart Partner, Reliance Consumer Products and AJIO Business.
    • Drew the line between shared core and configurable edge: buyer accounts, catalogue, contract pricing and ordering went into the platform, while each business's genuine rules stayed configurable.
    • Owned one roadmap across five capability areas (ordering, catalogue, pricing, point of sale and ERP integration) and several business owners with competing priorities.

  3. Senior Product Manager

    Oct 2021 to Sep 2023 / 2 yrs

My first platform at scale: B2B commerce for one of India's largest retail groups, from concept to live trade.

    • Owned requirements, user stories, release plans and acceptance for the B2B ordering platform.

I learned commerce from the integration layer up, which is still how I read any system.

    • Mapped the eight commerce models that run on marketplace flows: multichannel, omnichannel, B2B, B2C, D2C, B2B2C, just-in-time and dropshipping.
    • Wrote the PRDs, stories and wireframes that connected an omnichannel ERP to other ERPs, order systems, marketplaces and web stores such as Magento and Shopify.

I know AI inside out, from how models reason and fail to how agents, retrieval, tools and evaluation work together in production. What colleagues say

9 recommendations from managers, peers and partners.

Not very often do you come across a reportee you need to advise to work less. Farhan has been the only one of this kind in my ten years of experience. He could do in one day what others would take a week to do, and still be ready for more. With his acumen and hard work, he is a jewel to any team in the world.

Vinit Dubey

Product Management Leader (managed Farhan), Vinculum Group

Farhan equals commitment. If he takes up a task, he makes sure it is delivered on time and with the best quality. A fast learner with an eye for detail, he stands out. As a product manager he looks beyond functional details and actively takes part in design-level changes and the technical framework. He never misses a chance to learn something new. He is an asset anyone would want on their team.

Sunny Khanduja

Product Leader (managed Farhan), Vinculum Group

LinkedIn / Oct 26, 2021

As a key member of our team, Farhan showed exceptional leadership and expertise in managing integrations for e-commerce websites, payment gateways and wallets. He has a deep understanding of e-commerce, retail and product management, and of the detail involved in integrating payment solutions. His vision for our product was always aligned with industry trends and customer needs. He worked closely with our engineering team, often going above and beyond to solve technical challenges. His clear, concise communication made it easy for the team to understand requirements and deliver high-quality work, and he stayed calm and composed under pressure.

Yashwant Singh

Senior Project Manager, BDO UK

Farhan is a person with knowledge and a positive attitude. He is a quick learner and his grasp of new subjects is remarkable. His mantra seems to be: you name it, I will get it done. He is excellent at product management and knows e-commerce, marketplaces, retail and logistics in depth. He is wonderful to work with and has real expertise in mentoring and motivating people. He is an asset to any organisation.

Faraz Mehmood

I rarely come across real talents who stand out like Farhan. I had the pleasure of working with him for two years at Vinculum Group, collaborating on several projects. His ability to handle multiple projects was unlike any I have seen before and made a dramatic difference to our productivity. Farhan earns my highest recommendation.

Ritesh Tomar

Farhan's hard work and contribution to the organisation are remarkable. He is dedicated, committed and passionate about his work, and he takes an accountable attitude to every task. He communicates clearly, both verbally and in written presentations. I would be happy to recommend him anywhere.

Azaad B Yadav

I worked with Farhan on multiple accounts at Vinculum. He has vast experience in the retail and e-commerce domain, and he is an expert at resolving marketplace issues and solving complex marketplace integration problems. He was the dedicated resource for the marketplace integration team and the single point of contact for every marketplace issue. He is a smart worker who gives his all to the task in hand.

I have known Farhan for close to eight years. I have seen his technical skills at the core of his professional life, from SQL to client handling, and I have seen him take on work well beyond his role, including email marketing, project planning and championing his company's internal communications. He has grown quickly, and his willingness to learn and take on new responsibility is something to be desired in any professional. This rare mix of productivity and ambition sets a great example for his team.
